The Tea
Our thoughts and emotions are the driving forces that narrate our story, dictate our days, maintain our relationships, and interpret the physical world. There are a lot of ideologies and techniques to help us achieve emotional stability so that we can thrive in life, but none are quite as fascinating as the chakras.
This ancient belief system has been around since the early days of Hinduism, and suggests that the keys to inner peace and clarity are always within ourselves. These keys are the chakras, seven invisible energy centers located in our astral bodies.

Chakras And Emotional Stability
There are many texts about the chakra system out there, but we love this explanation from the author of a study published in Complementary and Alternative Medicine: “Chakras are energy transducers for subtle energy. Subtle energy is a healing energy that anyone can learn to perceive and utilize. It is a crucial but often missing component in health care.”
Chakra healing is a great way to deepen your connection within and thrive with greater happiness. Each chakra has a shadow emotion associated with it, and by opening or unblocking a chakra, you can treat certain underlying emotions.
Each Chakra has a shadow emotion associated with it, and by opening or unblocking a chakra, you treat certain underlying emotions.
So, what are the seven chakras and what emotions are they tied to? Below we’ll be giving a full overview of the chakras and how they affect our minds and spirits.
Root Chakra
Starting from the bottom, we have the root chakra that sits at the base of our spine and represents our foundation. Whenever the root chakra is open, we feel positive about taking care of ourselves and enduring difficulties.
When it’s blocked, we feel undermined, unhappy, and unsteady. Balancing yoga poses like Mountain or Warrior pose help unblock root chakra.
Sacral Chakra
Next, we have the sacral chakra, which represents a person’s creative and sexual energy. In addition, it boosts intuitiveness, self-worth, compassion, and the ability to recognize our own emotions and those of others around us. Its energy grants us admittance to adaptability and joy.
Those with a blocked sacral chakra could feel an absence of control in their lives which may cause emotional outbursts. Try the yoga poses bridge or lizard to help balance it.
Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra is found near the center of our bodies, just above our naval. When open, it increases our self-esteem and boosts productivity. It may cause depression and low self-esteem when imbalanced.
One can use the yoga poses boat or triangle to unblock and balance it.
“When you touch the celestial in your heart, you will realize that the beauty of your soul is so pure, so vast, and so devastating that you have no option but to merge with it. You have no option but to feel the rhythm of the universe in the rhythm of your heart.”
Amit Ray
Heart Chakra
The heart chakra, located exactly where its name suggests, is related to unrestricted love, sympathy, and satisfaction. It promotes adoration for ourselves and others, as well as sympathy, compassion, and forgiveness. Imbalance here is believed to cause outrage, absence of trust, tension, envy, dread, and irritability. It can cause us to feel downcast, inconsistent, and disengaged.
Try the yoga poses camel or cow face to open and balance your heart chakra.
Throat Chakra
As one might guess, the throat chakra lends us the voice to express and articulate our thoughts, feelings, and desires. It gives us the capability to communicate and get ourselves heard. When balanced, it regulates the flow of hormones.
Its imbalance leaves one unable to navigate through difficult conversations, speaking before thinking, or not being able to speak up at all. The yoga poses plow or fish help to balance it.
Third Eye
The third-eye chakra, located near our foreheads, is said to be the eye of the soul. When opened, it becomes our intuition, imagination, and wisdom, and sees what can not be seen with an ordinary sense of perception.
It goes beyond the surface-level and earthly connections, and opens the door to a far deeper vision. The yoga pose forward fold is great for unblocking and balancing this chakra.
Crown Chakra
The most spiritual of chakras sits on the top of our heads, and is aptly named the crown chakra. It represents spirituality, personhood, inner wisdom, and energetic thoughts.
Consequently, its imbalance can cause depression, anxiety, disconnect from one’s surroundings, and frustrations. The yoga pose corpse is recommended for balancing and unblocking this chakra.
The Pour
Unsure about your chakra alignment? Keep a journal where you write down any conflicting feelings or troubling thoughts you’re going through. Identify the core emotions you’re struggling with, and then begin to heal the chakra associated with it. For instance, if you’re struggling to vocalize your thoughts, your throat chakra is likely blocked. This practice allows you to move step by step and prioritize your needs instead of working on all chakras together, which can be a daunting task.
Consistent chakra healing allows you to stay in tune with your emotions, so that you can more easily identify the root causes of any energy blockages. It’s a spiritual practice that promotes deep self-awareness and consistent self-growth in a wonderfully meditative way.
