Whenever the young Santiago, the protagonist of the book, falls asleep under a fig tree, the length of which damages the ceiling of his local church, he dreams of a little boy who keeps telling him to follow a treasure. Consulting a gypsy fortune teller, Santiago learns that this is a prophecy that must be fulfilled and that he must follow his dream. Surprised by the strange prophecy, the young shepherd sets off on his adventure at any cost. Throughout his journey, we discover the depths within ourselves. We burn with the desire to travel and discover. This book gives us the courage to listen to our inner voice, and endeavor to follow it. The Brazilian writer left his Faculty of Law at the age of 23 and traveled throughout South America, Europe, and North Africa. After 2 years he returned home and became a well-known songwriter in his country. At the beginning of his career, he was imprisoned for his activist activities against the Brazilian government.
