The Tea
The Kite Runner tells the story of a 12-year-old Afghani boy who sheds light on hope with his heartbreaking story.
The Quick Brew
We question life while reading the story of this child living in Afghanistan, in the midst of war, traditions, and pain.
“I want to tear myself from this place, from this reality, rise up like a cloud and float away, melt into this humid summer night and dissolve somewhere far, over the hills. But I am here, my legs blocks of concrete, my lungs empty of air, my throat burning. There will be no floating away.”

The Quick Stir
“The Kite Runner” is a comeback story disguised as the tale of a boy whose only dream is to participate in a local kite tournament.
We meet a child who sees his life shattered during his most formational phase. After living through Afghanistan’s Russian invasion and fleeing to America with his family, Amir realizes that one day he must return to Afghanistan under Taliban rule and find the one thing his new world cannot give him: redemption.
“That was when Baba stood up. It was my turn to clamp a hand on his thigh, but Baba pried it loose, snatched his leg away. When he stood, he eclipsed the moonlight. ‘I want you to ask this man something,’ Baba said. He said it to Karim, but looked directly at the Russian officer. ‘Ask him where his shame is.’ They spoke. ‘He says this is war. There is no shame in war.’ ‘Tell him he’s wrong. War doesn’t negate decency. It demands it, even more than in times of peace.‘”

Khaled Hosseini, an Afghan-American writer and doctor, has led a life of migration, just like the hero in his acclaimed book. He studied medicine and worked as a surgeon until he wrote his first book “The Kite Runner”. A year and a half after this first book was published, he dove into his literary career, releasing more poignant tales of life in war-torn Afghanistan.
The Quick Pour
The world is a place that often makes us question the concept of justice. While each of us pursues a valuable and meaningful life, what it offers us may not always be easy or heart-warming. But there is one very important thing to remember, and that is that hope always exists. No matter what our circumstances are, we always have the possibility to change our situations.
